Google Reader

Google reader

Having mentioned Google Reader in a recent staff training session I am going to put a brief over view post here to help any interested parties out.

If you have a google email account (if you don’t then it’s worth having one) then you have access to a huge world of FREE resources. And if you are a teacher that’s not something to be sniffed at!

Free:

All those, and much much more under your own account!!

In the nut shell

Google Reader is a page (in your secure web account) which displays the most recent updates of websites you choose.

All the updates are displayed in one place, in date order for you to read through at your leisure. In many instances it means you don’t have to leave the one single webpage! making web surfing for ideas and research a very easy thing indeed.

How do you do it?

Find a site you like, or visit often. Copy its RSS feed link. (the address for the updates)

Go to your google account and simply paste the RSS link into the Google Reader.

And…that’s it! simple two steps to help you quickly access site updates in one place in the future. From a laptop, desktop, and even a smart phone!

Keep up to date with very little effort!
